Fishing on the Opala River
Season:
1st and 2nd variants: from 25th of July to 15th of October
3rd variant: from 15th of August to 15th of October
Duration: 10 days/9 nights, 11 days/10 nights
Targets of fishing: Kamchatka steelhead, coho salmon, East Siberian char, chum salmon, pink salmon, loach.
Description:
Opala River originates in south- western slopes of active Gorely volcano and flows into Okotskoye Sea. The length of river is 161 km, catchment area is 4070 square km. Flow rate is 0,5 – 2 m/sec. Opala River is one of the big rivers of south-western part of Kamchatka. More than 68% of its length is within the altitude not more than 200 m. The lower reaches of Opala are wide and waveguide, the channel are rare, the river flows along not very winding riverbed among low tundra coasts. Approximately in 15 km lower from left inflow (Savan River), Opala is divided into many branches and channels.
Opala flows into riverbed of mountain gorges in 2 places for several kilometers. Many inflows, the main of which is Savan River, debouching in 61 km from mouth, runs into Opala. Usually the water is clean and transparent. Opala belongs to the most important salmon spawning rivers. All kinds of Kamchatka salmon go into it. Fish attracts bears, eagles and other animals. You can fish and watch wild animals.
According to the tourist sport classification natural obstructions (rifts), meeting during rafting match to second (third) category of difficulty. Total dimension of rafting is from 100 to 135 km, it depends on the variant of delievery.
Transfer to/from the river may be fulfilled by 3 variants:
1st variant: with helicopter
2nd variant: delivery with the helicopter, removal with 4WD car.
3rd variant: with 4-WD car
Double accommodation at tents during fishing.
Fishing and rafting on 16-18 feet rafts. The guide operates with the raft with the help of 2 single-bank oars, that is why the customers don`t have needs to row. Fishing from raft or coast.
Itinerary: 1st variant
Day 1. Arrival in airport, transfer to Paratunka (40 minutes), accommodation at the resort, rest, swimming at the thermal pool.
Day 2. Transfer to the helicopter pad. Flight to Opala River (40 minutes one way). Fishing. Overnight at tents.
Days 3-7. Fishing and rafting. Overnight at tents.
Day 8. End of rafting. Transfer by helicopter to the city. Accommodation at the resort in Paratunka. Rest, swimming at the thermal pool.
Day 9. Reserve day.
Day 10. Transfer to the airport, departure.
The cost of the tour for the group of 4 pax is 3600 Euro per person.
